Welcome to the San Juan Islands Chapter "OUR PAST IS OUR PRESENT AND OUR FUTURE"
WELCOME! The San Juan Islands DAR chapter was organized on April 14,1979 by our inspirational regent, Elizabeth Roark Forsman, in Friday Harbor, San Juan Island. The chapter encompasses all the islands of this once-Spanish archipelago. While the islands retain their original Spanish names, they lie like stepping-stones in the Salish Sea, between British Columbia and Northwest Washington.
Our members are an adventuresome lot, as attending our meetings often requires traveling by ferry from one island to another, as well as from the mainland. Our membership encompasses a wide range of ages and includes several mothers and their daughters.
We are growing and continue to welcome new members and prospective members to our meetings.
DAR is a service organization for women aged 18+ who can trace their direct lineage to someone who fought for or helped in the cause of American independence during the American Revolution. If you are interested in learning more about the membership in the DAR, please contact our registrar or check out the NSDAR website.
We would love to have visitors from our sister chapters and look forward to meeting new daughters, existing members or those interested in knowing more about the DAR. All are welcome.
Thank you for visiting our site and we hope to hear from you soon!
Mary Beth Macksey, Regent
