Welcome to the San Juan Islands Chapter "OUR PAST IS OUR PRESENT AND OUR FUTURE"
WELCOME to the website for the San Juan Islands Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Our unique chapter includes members from all four major islands of the San Juan Archipelago, several members on the mainland, and even one overseas. Attending our meetings means traveling by ferry from all around the islands, which lie like stepping stones in the Salish Sea, between Northwest Washington and British Columbia. We are a growing chapter with a membership of all ages, including several mother-and-daughter pairs. We welcome visitors and look forward to meeting new Daughters.
The San Juan Archipelago derives its name from the early Spanish explorers and many of our islands still retain the original Spanish names. Our San Juan Islands DAR chapter was officially organized on April 14, 1979 with the enthusiasm and inspiration of our organizing regent, Elizabeth Roark Forsman, in Friday Harbor. Our current board of officers is a dedicated team, fully involved in the spirit of DAR. Visitors from our sister chapters are always welcome.
Jean Thomas, Regent
